What is a Comprehensive Assessment?

Sometimes the exact nature of a psychological or emotional difficulty is hard to assess through interviews alone. A comprehensive assessment involves a battery of tests that can provide invaluable information about the psychological structure, internal emotional life, and cognitive style of the individual.

Comprehensive assessment is an organized approach to evaluating multiple cognitive abilities such as intelligence, memory, language, attention, problem-solving ability, visual-motor skills, sensorimotor abilities, personality, emotional/behavioral functioning, and academic skills.

Evaluation usually involves paper-and-pencil tests or computer based measures, and review of relevant background information.
